NHS Leaders are warning local people not to be caught short of medication this Easter Bank Holiday.

As the long weekend approaches NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is reminding patients to order their prescriptions in plenty of time, before their GP or pharmacy closes.

Dr Dan Roper, Chair of the CCG, commented:

“With just a few weeks left until Easter, now’s the time to request your repeat prescriptions. This is particularly important for people with long term health conditions who may rely on regular medication.”

Most GP surgeries and pharmacies will close from Good Friday until Easter Monday (14-17 April). However, if you or a loved one becomes unwell during the break, there are places you can go.

The CCG has published a list of Pharmacies which are open over the Easter Holiday. You can find out when and where pharmacies in Hull and East Riding will be open by visiting:

Dr Dan Roper, chair of the CCG, added:

“During the Bank Holiday, A&E usually becomes quite busy. This can put a strain on the staff and take up valuable time. We’d like to remind people that A&E is for critical and life threatening emergency situations.”

“If you have a minor injury, like a cut requiring stitches, a sprain or burn, you can visit the minor injury unit at Bransholme Health Centre, which will be open 24/7 from 1 April 2017. You’ll be seen and cared for quickly, while helping to save A&E resources for those in urgent need.”
