From 1 July 2022, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be dissolved, and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) will take over the responsibility for NHS functions and budgets. We will become part of NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB. You can continue to use this website to find the information you need, which remains relevant for the Hull area.

Hull’s everyday health heroes will be honoured today at the first Hull 2020 Champions celebration event.

The event will recognise the breadth of work going on among the CCG’s Hull 2020 Champion projects.

‘Champions’ come in all shapes and sizes, from passionate individuals to organised groups and charities. They are united by one thing; a desire to improve the health of our city.

The projects support many different groups of people and cover a wide range of topics, including veteran support, yoga, Lego therapy and inspiring people to get active, to name just a few.

Christine Ebeltoft, community engagement manager at the CCG, commented:

“The Hull 2020 Champions programme is unique in its ability to reach out and support people in our city.

“We find that there are often groups of people who the CCG may struggle to engage through standard NHS services, or who perhaps need extra support. But this is where the Champions come in.

“Having a close connection to those working with our communities helps us reach out to different ethnic groups, to encourage more people to think about their health and to offer our support to groups helping people live with long term conditions like Diabetes or the effects of a stroke.

“In a very real sense the Hull 2020 Champions project allows us to pool the resources, efforts and passions of our communities. It’s this unwavering and dedicated work that we would like to recognise and celebrate.”

Part of the Champion programme involves the CCG fostering a close network and creating an environment where community groups can support and help one another.

Throughout the morning the event will feature talks and a peek behind the scenes at some of the Champions projects.

An award ceremony will be held in the afternoon, hosted by Dr Dan Roper, chair of the CCG.
