From 1 July 2022, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be dissolved, and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) will take over the responsibility for NHS functions and budgets. We will become part of NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB. You can continue to use this website to find the information you need, which remains relevant for the Hull area.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Haxby Group as ‘Outstanding’ overall across York and Hull. Haxby Group was visited by a team from the CQC in November. The inspection was one of the first of its kind for the CQC inspecting organisations with multiple primary care contracts – in the past it has inspected sites separately and reported on them individually.

Previously rated as ‘Good’, Haxby Group has this time been rated as ‘Outstanding’ as a whole.

The CQC found multiple examples to demonstrate the staff and management team were passionate about providing an innovative and excellent service.

In Hull Haxby Group was rated as outstanding for providing effective and well-led services.  It was also rated outstanding for families, children and young people and people whose circumstances may make them vulnerable. Other areas were rated good.

Haxby Group’s clinical lead Professor Mike Holmes said: “We were pleased when the CQC chose to work with us to look at how they could evaluate primary care at scale. The inspection was very thorough, with the team visiting our sites in York and Hull over a number of days. Thanks to all our staff and patients who supported this.

“The news that we have been rated as Outstanding for the first time is absolutely brilliant and it is a credit to every member of our team, across all our sites. Haxby Group has a good reputation for recruiting, training, developing and retaining the best and most talented people in the business. This rating recognises this and highlights their commitment to Haxby Group and our patients. I’m extremely proud of every single one of them.

“Receiving this outstanding rating means we now have an even stronger platform for moving forward. This is just the start of our journey to become the best community-based healthcare provider in the region, with a keen focus on patient involvement and staff development so we don’t lose sight of the important things which make us special.”

Dr Laura Balouch, Haxby Group Hull GP Partner, said: “This is really fantastic news for everyone! We’re all absolutely delighted that our hard work to set up new sites and deliver new health services for the people of Hull has been recognised. Every one of our team is fully committed to improving healthcare in this area, so being rated as Outstanding is a huge boost.

“As Haxby Group looks forward to working at other sites within Hull this year, this rating confirms that we have the skills to deliver great results for our patients. Being rated as Outstanding will also help us bring more talent to the region, attracting the best people to come and work in this wonderful city.”

Dr Dan Roper, Chair of NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We are delighted to hear this news. To be one of only a very few practice groups in Hull to be rated outstanding is a very special achievement.

“In addition to being a valued provider of general practice services in Hull, Haxby Group provides a workforce training hub for the region, which helps to ensure we continue to have highly skilled medical and nursing professionals working in practices across the city.”

“Congratulations to the whole team at Haxby Group Practice for their commitment to continually improving patient care.”
