From 1 July 2022, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be dissolved, and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) will take over the responsibility for NHS functions and budgets. We will become part of NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB. You can continue to use this website to find the information you need, which remains relevant for the Hull area.

Local charity Bundles of Joy are set to benefit from a 10% discount at supermarket chain Morrisons with the support of the NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Champions Programme.

The charity, founded by Claire Raper, works with Hull and East Riding based NHS teams, including midwives and social workers, to identify families in need of extra support and supply them with essentials such as clothes, nappies and even mosses baskets.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the charity’s work has increased, with more and more families finding themselves needing help due to being out of work or on a reduced income.

On top of donations from local residents and businesses, the charity team also purchase products such as nappies and toiletries, using money that has been donated or award through grants, from local supermarkets.

When Claire heard that Morrisons PLC were offering 10% discount for NHS staff, she reached out to the head of the NHS Hull CCG Champion Programme, Christine Ebeltoft, for her help to see if the discount could be extended to Bundles of Joy, so they could provide even more essentials for even more families.

Claire said: “I contacted Christine from Hull CCG and she said, leave it with me; I’ll see what I can do. The next thing I know she’s coming back to me to tell me it’s all sorted. It will make a huge difference to us as a small charity. Morrisons have been so brilliant in allowing us to join the discount scheme, we can’t thank them enough.”

“Being a part of the Hull Champion Programme is invaluable, it allows us to feel connected to the NHS and other local groups, and feel like we’re part of something. It’s nice to know that NHS support is there for us when we need it.”

Hull Champions benefit from CCG support in a wide variety of ways, such as free training and support with funding opportunities. Christine Ebeltoft, Engagement Manger for Communities, who leads the programme said: “My heart thoroughly sits with the local community and I do everything I can to empower charities, community groups and even individuals to achieve their health goals.

“When Claire contacted me I knew I had to help. 10% is a huge discount when you’re kiting out a new family with everything they need for their baby, or supporting a family through a tough couple of months. I’m so glad that Morrisons were so open to supporting the charity – it’ll make a massive difference to local families in need.”

NHS Hull CCG Interim Chief Operating Officer, Erica Daley, said: “The work of Bundles of Joy and other local charities makes a huge difference to the people in Hull and the East Riding. They add an extra element to local NHS services which too often goes unrecognised or unnoticed. Our Hull Champions Programme aims to support the work of these groups as part of our mission to create a healthier Hull.”

Applications to the Hull Champions Programme are currently being accepted. Find out more on our website: https://www.hullccg.nhs.uk/hullchampions/
