From 1 July 2022, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be dissolved, and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) will take over the responsibility for NHS functions and budgets. Emma Latimer, Accountable Officer at NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group has paid tribute to Jean Bishop following the news of her death at age 99.

Emma said: “Jean Bishop was such an inspiring and caring lady who devoted much of her life to helping others. She was an absolute icon in Hull, who never saw herself as being elderly or frail, and certainly didn’t let it hold her back with her amazing fundraising.

“We know that Jean’s legacy will live on in the Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre. The Centre has gone from strength to strength, offering the best experience of care for frail and vulnerable people. I was proud it could continue to support people in care homes and in the community during the pandemic.

“Jean brought so much happiness to so many people and we were fortunate to have been able to name the Centre after her during her lifetime. She performed the official opening for us in 2018 at the time of the NHS 70th birthday – and what a special day that was. Thank you, Jean, for all you have done. Hull’s Bee Lady will be much missed by everyone.”
